WHO I AM
Velcrow Ripper is a Genie Award winning filmmaker,media activist, web artist and sound designer, from the westcoast of Canada. He has written, photographed and directed over thirty films and videos, both fiction and issue oriented documentary, often with an experimental edge. His most recent project was "In The Company of Fear", an hour-long documentary on human rights activists in Colombia. Other films include "Open Season" (co-directed with Heather Frise), about Bear Hunters and the activists who "hunt the hunters", the multi-award winning feature documentary "Bones of the Forest"(co-directed with Heather Frise), about the struggle to save the Ancient Forests of British Columbia, and "I'm Happy. You're Happy. We're All Happy. Happy, happy, happy.", a feature fiction. His work has shown at festivals around the world,and have won numerous awards. He is the co-founder of Transparent Film and the director of Scared Sacred.
