SOUND WORK

Sound design is an important element of his film work. In 1991 he worked on the f.x. cut, and as A.D.R. recordist, for Highway Ô61 (Bruce Macdonald), and The Adjuster (Atom Egoyan), and as sound designer for The Falls (a feature poetic documentary by Kevin McMahon).

PERFORMANCE AND OTHER WORK

Velcrow has acted in the performance art pieces Scared Sacred, Fear (directed by Julia Rosenberg), Crew (lead role; directed by Danny Vie), Space Binding Time (co-directed with Mark Sickich), and such films as Two Nights in the Life of Jim (lead role; directed by in Barry Coulter) and I'm Happy (in the role of "Bob"). He has performed with the political giant puppet troupe Bread and Puppet, acted as a multi-voiced, electronic ventriloquist/robot operator for Captain CarnivalÕs Pizza Time Disney Style Theatre, organized film screenings, appeared as guest speaker (including the recent Opening Frames panel discussion on The Filmmaker as Political Advocate" and The Banff Centre For Fine Arts "Tuning The World" conference on acoustic ecology) taught workshops (on subjects such as sound editing, optical printing, media activism), and has written poetry, fiction and articles.
